How to Inject?
What You’ll Need:
Insulin syringe (only for compounded tirzepatide in vials)
Alcohol swabs
Sharps disposal container
Injection Steps (Subcutaneous)
Common Injection Sites:
Abdomen (2 inches away from the navel)
Front of the thigh
Back of the upper arm
If Using a Prefilled Pen
Wash your hands and clean the injection site with alcohol.
Remove the pen cap.
Place the pen against the skin at a 90° angle.
Press and hold the injection button until you hear a click (keep holding for 5–10 seconds).
Remove the pen, check the window to confirm the dose was delivered.
Dispose of the pen in a sharps container.
If Using a Compounded Vial:
Clean vial stopper with an alcohol swab.
Draw up the prescribed dose into an insulin syringe (usually 0.25 mL or 0.5 mL depending on the concentration).
Choose your injection site and clean it with alcohol.
Pinch the skin and insert the needle at a 45°–90° angle.
Inject slowly, then remove the needle.
Apply gentle pressure; do not rub the area.
Dispose of the syringe in a sharps container.
Dosing Schedule (General):
Always follow your provider’s guidance, but typical starting doses:
2.5 mg once weekly to start (for titration)
Increase every 4 weeks:
5 mg → 7.5 mg → 10 mg → 12.5 mg → 15 mg max
Higher doses may be compounded and dosed differently, so confirm with your provider or pharmacy.
Storage:
Refrigerate at 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C).
Can be kept at room temp (≤86°F/30°C) for up to 21 days (check packaging).
Do not freeze or expose to sunlight.
